Day 3 (Ramadan Poems): Abadir Hashi

Sun sizzling, scorching i see,
my throat can't handle the sweet summery smoothy
in Stratford- the olympic scenery.

Fasting, I forward my gaze from unfortunate food smiling before me,
feelings only felt when restricted from eating 18 hours

Others look at me, oblivious that am fasting while they overload
oreos into their oesophagus.

Bright and beaming, today I met a Somali coach for the Olympic team,
his blue, blooming back engraved with the words 'SOMALIA' catches my breath.
Careless and confident i approach him for questions and cameras.
