Day 2: Let’s Matter by Hana Aw-Dahir

Trumpets play on the imagination of summer
Intellectual thoughts stirred with cinnamon and brought to simmer by heated discussion
This is the life of the artsy
Wee hours held back on the hopes of finding truth
While creativity attaches on the sole of infinite possibilities
Longing for indifference, I take you to heart
You approach with no name, just an idea
To become that is
My spectacles fog in anticipation for your soliloquy on changing matters
Matter of fact, you might not matter after tonight
You say everything is trivial
I beg to differ
You here on the corner of Broadway and 8th with me, matters
While familiar rain drops signal the end of our beginning
My ink pours at the sight of rain and I frantically try to document you, your ideas and this moment
This matters, everything else doesn’t
