Oh how sweet is contentment!
And how wretched is ungratefulness!
Amazing is the case of the one,
Who grumbles though he has no reason to,
As though the sky has fallen,
As though misery is attached to his hip,
As though misfortune has never left him.
What cause do he have to grumble about?
What obstacles block his sight,
That he only sees a half empty cup?
He wishes every soul was as discontented as him,
About their constantly upbeat moods,
Bright faces and smiles,
"Why are you always happy?" he asks!
Perhaps a better question would be:
Why has he not found contentment yet?!
