My flag, my heart

Still blue, the indomitable
Boycotted and Booed
Bashed and buried
But still blue
Boughs broken but barren not yet
Bruised bosoms but still bears some milk
Ready to breastfeed its betrayers

Still blue, the indomitable
Its blue sea fed to the brim
From broken bottles to barrels of uranium
But still blue
Its borders bombarded
Its base set on blaze
With benzene borrowed from in and out

Still blue, the indomitable
Never bow to all these blows
Bound you are to be one of the best
Remain blue it’s just a blink
Before you blossom AGAIN

African, Day and Night

In the company of the Earth,
I stand on my feet
Rooted in the deep dark Africa
Sun rises beaming, powerful
All corners, shining
Beautifully twisted in the metaphors of the day

In the company of the Sun,
I glow like torch
Lighted dark, illuminating ecstasy,
Incubating souls, procreating future
Brightening the shadow of the continent
The Sun, depicted in the mystery of the land
Gives birth to sons and heroes

In the company of heroes,
I scramble for the Right to live,
Struggle, Poverty, Aids, Colonialism,
All enshrined in my history,
Transcends to beleaguering future?
Heroes refute pessimism,
Welcome Freedom!
