May God help my people
We are lawless
We are collection of tribes
And sub tribes and clans
My people are of different sub clans
And families
Each family is enemy of the other
My people are hungry
Not good clothes
And illiterate
my people are gunmen
The eldest is a warlord
The youngest is a militia
We are heading for no were
We are stuck in a war
War of families
We’re neighbors shoot at one another
And children are not taken care of
We give them guns
Not toy or a book
We don’t have enough food
But we got ammunition
To save the children is to save a country
Can anyone hear me?
Am I alone in this world?
Where are my people?
They keep killing each other
Children don’t play with ball but bombs instead
The one cribbed by mines is a Somali child
The one that lost an arm to the war is a Somali teenager
The one losing sight in the war is a Somali elder
The woman in the hospital is a Somali
The gunmen won’t help
We need peace

Poetry is a weapon that we use in both war and peace. When we want to tell somebody something, poetry is the best way to convince them. - Hadraawi

My beloved country
oh my beloved country
oh my beloved people
what used to be great
is now destroyed
what used to be beautiful
is now ugly
what used to be honour
is now disgrace
what used to worthy
is worthless
what used to be a tall beautiful building
is now a ruble
what used to be street
is now a ragged derail
what used to be school
is now a cemetery
torn by two
the tribes are multiplying
before end of the decade
there will be millions
you were once feared by your neighbors
now they walk in and out of your borders
oh my people what have you done
oh my people what have you done
oh my people what have you done.

The voice of a citizen
Mogadishu
Mogadishu my beloved city
how i dread your fall
how i hope to see you one day
how i hope you were peace full
oo how i feel the misery of my city
people dying,children crying
mothers aching in pain
fathers killed
stand by watchers cant help
family is doomed
survivors head to Kenya
camp live is the tough
united nation doesn't have an answer
the world is watching
Mogadishu is burning
o lord help
everyday we bow down to you
still no answer
our faith is shaken
gun fire is rumbling
only god can help
will i live tomorrow ?
only god knows

Broken hearts
so many refugees
all sought of people
all sought of young and old
they came long ago
not to be lost but to survive
now we are old
so many things happen
so many ways
so many ways we are lost
so many with little to lose
they came for hope
they lost them selves
so many ways
so many ways we are dying
not by pullets
but by words
and a system that ties our hands
and doesn't allow us in
where do we go back to?
we got caught in the middle
we cant go forth
we cant go back
our homes are destroyed
our children will die
if we go back
if we stay we lose our selves

The story of a Somali Child
there are children in the world
who look for things
that they cant afford
who have homes
who have clothes
who have shelter
who their toys are full room
who their parents cant make them happy
but what i look for is a food
nothing fancy
just some bread and tea will do
i look to study
nothing big
just Quran
i look to become
don't know what
i dare not to dream its not in my will
i am abused constantly
i am told to fight for the clan
at a young age
i am an educated
i dare not dream
now i cant become
the president failed
now hope is gone
in my twenties
i am a man
but cant manage my family
bread is no on the table
my son is screaming ,daaad foood
my heart is broken
i dare to but a road block a isbaaro.
i am not making money
the religious groups came
they took the isbaaro
now who do we fight for
my child is growing
to be just like me
this is the fall of a nation
this is our story
