We are men,
We are women.
We are educated,
yes, even sophisticated.
Our generation is rising both young and old,
amidst us are the brave and bold.
We uphold an entire nation's dignity.
We are seekers of truth filled with integrity.
Our elders dream of us as their future to be's,
While those who know not laugh and slap their knees.
They throw us dirty looks,
But we smile with pride and study our books.
We have been persecuted, stepped on, and oppressed,
But our voices and our spirits cannot be suppressed.
Through all of these hardships our identity and value we must maintain,
Our foot prints on the globe we will stain.
