Group Poem 16 (ekphrasis) :Birds

They say a picture says more than a thousand words
Then picture me amongst these thousand birds
Cuz birds don’t fuss and fight over minor things

What I wouldn’t give to trade my arms for their wings
Flying freely without a care in the universe

What I wouldn’t give to trade my life for theirs

Soaring effortlessly in the night sky
What I wouldn’t give for a chance 2 fly
See it doesn’t matter to them they fly in any sorts of weather

Across countries and continents some heavy some light as a feather
Some strong some weak

Some of them even speak

Birds come and go don’t call a particular place their home
Their found everywhere from Cape Town 2 Rome
And they seldom found alone often fly in groups
Flying in perfect formation as if they were trained troops

Unlike they know when 2 open and close their beak

If a picture says more than a thousand words , then why speak ?

Group Poem 16 (ekphrasis): Modern day crush

I stare because you are staring
I smile because of your  smile
because you are a singer,i have become an avid listener
I have realized love has no color
nor sees the other person's faults
I have become net freak let me just say lol here to make things a bit informal
When you update your status I get butterflies in my tummy, and I am motivated sometimes by what you say,
When you dont update your status I start missing you more
I never thought I would say this
But boy you seem like my dream man and I don't want to leave this dreamland
Who would have ever thought of writing a piece
Just by looking at a picture of a perfect stranger
But darling
This is your modern day crush
Facebook him
Twitter him
Email him
Text him
Damn boy, can you just call me?

Somalia Bleeds

When the nation of poets are reduced to a nation of beggars,
When the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which carry greed and notoriety replace the government and the United Nations rules Somalia,
When the NGOs exaggerate and perpetuate the vicious circle of victimhood,
When a culture of dependence is created and promoted,
When Sheik Sharif’s religious rhetoric is replaced with Jeffersonian Democracy,
When Somali leaders compete for monetary interests or notoriety,

When AMISOM carry the crimes,
When Meles Zenawi became the poster child of democracy in the Horn of Africa,
When BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Somali services distorts the news,
When foreign Ships dump a toxic nuclear waste in the seashore,
When men ignore the lessons of history,

When injustice spreads like deadly cancer in the land,
When justice is politicized,
When the International Criminal Courts favors the rich and the powerful,
When piracy becomes the nation’s introduction to the world,

When the powerless Somalis carry the shame,
When the Somali children are made of orphans by the Mikhail Kalashnikov’s weapon (AK47s),
When Al-shabaab’s religious rhetoric fills the airwaves,
When the invisible hands fuel the endless bloodshed,
When the children of the war brandish their AK47s in pursuit of their own peace,
When the memories of a generation are clouded by the undying horrors of the war,
When the foreign interest groups hold every Somali peace conferences in foreign soils,

When the system of meritocracy is disfavored,
When the infamous 4.5 clan based systems promotes and fills the TFG’s cabinet seats,
When Somalia’ war profiteers call the shots from their five star hotels in Nairobi,

When the poor women and children decay in the refugee camps in Kenya,
When the earth bleeds and the wetlands are replaced with wasteland,
When the world’s ruling men pursue a short term policy of containment,

When the religion of Islam carry the blame,
When over ten million Somalis carry the pain and the frustration of their country’s period of destruction,
When the seat of Shah became the seat of blood,
When the incapable men carry the lead and the capable men carry the crimes,

When greedy and hopelessness rules the land,
When the indigenous men become pinheads and avoid the pressing issues of the day,
When the knucklehead leaders race in revealing the nation’s weak spots,
When Google records this as the nation’s history,
This is when Somalia’s future is predictable in the foreseeable future.
However, it is time when leaders with strategic foresight must answer the urgent calls and play upon the nation’s strength.
Remember, everything is reversible except death. The legacy of the current generation is yet to be written.

Are you willing to reverse it?
Think about it…….

Lost in words?

As I sit here read through the words of poetess
Let me confess and condense all the stress caught on my chest
To express my piece of the contest
That I have unspoken words in unprofessed
So let me share my poetry
So that I can express myself freely
To wake up of my Dreams and rise for the reality
Substantiate people with what I have inside and outside of me
See I am fayzah showsta in case you never knew
I inference I am poetry prose just like the others
I don’t judge by any other or there color
Just a poet who comprehends and scrutinize the lines of rhyme
Finally it feels like I came out of my skin and I deem like I bleed lie
Cry out for a try and yet hide
I sometimes get sick and tired of rhymes
Makes me think is a waste of time trying
Gets me mad when I don’t understand the lines
I don’t know it just gets me the rile
It is hard to just press on subject matter with utter
When actually the bard engrave a line which has no texture
Do I really sit with pen, book and I just conjecture?
Every time I try to express spit on put my name down for
I get stuck, impedes the accepted wisdom
But here I am trying to answer 1 question
Am I a really flowing it?.. Drivel? Or a good poetition?

Clowning around

Clowning around

I walk in with lies into a theatre full of  smiles, the light shines at me but I hide behind my performance and being my flimsy romance with my audience

Enjoying myself like there is no tomorrow, Without any sorrow I waste a precious gift and stay a adrift in the  mist of distraction

Even when you give me chances to repent I continue to rebel and surround myself with superficial excuses and continue to abuse and loose control I need to grant myself parol

Rather than reconciliation I opt for consolidation at the absence of distraction, my foundations are being breached am under siege, I long for peace of mind but i beat the drums of my own destruction

As I construct a fortress of lies and diversions and I watch it self destruct , a vicious cycle am reluctant to confront do carry on with my front

So I play around and make funny faces and amusing pranks but the joke is on me

As soon as I get a moment of peace it pores in my world, my disguise is washing off so I paint smile back on and continue with show But for certain the curtains will come down and smile will turn into a frown

Aawo Part 2

we,the children, got taken taken away from her
bloodstained hands, self-destructive palms, crooked fingers pointing
no direction, its easier to run away from her when her back is turned
she doesnt know her way around
the battlefields expand, freedom fighters positions get shifted,
rapidly increase their numbers, wallow in blood pools
revel in the death counts, linger around the blackrimmed hunger
no one knows where these enemy lines came from
who told you the war started now?

no, trouble came by a while ago, left parts of her being morbidly missing
ugly, rotting stumps where a foot, an ear and the left hand should be
we hear the names she had for what she lost in her lamentations
soar over us and whispered within slumblers of the night, tendrils of predictive horror
of how they “have destroyed our religion and made our children their children”*
we are most awake after we have lulled ourselves to sleep,
the subconscience is more aware, alive than we are
as we are conditioned to forget,
won’t recognise our own
when we see them again on biased maps clearly in the morning,
Ogaden, Dijoubti, North Eastern Province
amputated by men who were pale in morales,
crosses tight around their necks, no limit in their impious imperalism
they’re still taking children away from her
who told you life started after they came?

to this day, we flee to lands too far and too cold
for her ways, wisdom and weapons can hold us, we’re grasping foreign lies now
we live, listen, learn under solid cold white structures
inferior in race and differ in religion
Aawo’s majority have become minorites over here
discriminating authority, stolen heritage and heavy bounded stories
swell up and around her childrens’ heads,
we are taught to lower their voices
amplify the foreigners unworldy words
her children move too slow, tentative steps towards the wrong places
our paths divide all the time, not alligned with Aawos own fate
disrespect, distrust and disgust parts
gapes and wades between her children, we dont care about being on Aawos side
when no one stands by ours, too busy in awe and due respect of they have programmed us
to see, to hear, to speak of a glamourised civil war
another ghetto they created
of what the men with crosses now loosely around their necks
have scripted for you, whitewashed imagery constrasts with our reality
under the mock columns of history they rewrote
to capture our minds and dwell in castles of their control
who told you we’re free now?

I’ll be here, but I’ll be gone

I’ll be here, but I’ll be gone
If I’m gona be honest I won’t be here for too long
Be planning this every night, ready to see the light
Don’t know about you but I hate my life,
maybe I need to wake up with a knife in my skin with a
Wake up call that life is too short,
can’t cut sideways but up ways so I can cut the cord

But it was you who made me feel,
I was ignored or maybe I’m just fucking bored
Maybe I just wish I was adored.
I can spend hours looking in a mirror or a wall
Looking through and imagining myself fall
Or how my death letter would go down

Telling my mum life wasn’t for me and that her mission to bring happiness failed to settle with me
Sometimes I wonder if I’ll exactly live life like my folks hating myself and others.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve tried,
but why should I keep giving why should I keep living.
None of you fuckers gave me love

And you can see I never put up a fuss, but if the next time you see me and I be dust.
so dad why didn’t you ever call,
why didn’t you ever write a letter and,
why when I took the effort into meeting you,
why couldn’t you bring the courage and pretend  that you loved me.
Sometimes I feel I’m getting punished of your fucking misery,
you never contacted me so why should I give you the content of any money.
Bright side we have a lot in common money is our love and,
we waste it on shit that takes us out of this world.
We both love the natural stuff.
One thing I can never understand but it makes me so mad,
you lost a father how can you make me feel the pain that you feel now.

You know I try to be strong but I feel weaker than ever and,
I wish I had some sort of obsession but I lost love of everything.
So don’t mind me if I’m anti social
I can’t bring myself to talk about mascara for the next fucking 20 minutes
Because I can’t help to see the world in a deeper level,
don’t get me wrong I hate that I do
And that’s why you have to understand, if you saw it in my eyes all the shit I’ve been trough.
Sometimes I feel paranoia has hit me well, I keep seeing some black smoke in the air
I scream but I just look like I’m crazy or in the worst pain,
Angel of death don’t you just love me take my soul ask the questions you’ve been questioning yourself.
Strangle me so I can finally feel real.

Imagine

What will happen if you imagine this?

Imagine sitting outside the house playing in the sand
While mum is sitting outside and watching you with smile

Imagine your mum sending you to school
With out worrying about gun fight

Imagine waking up Friday morning with a bright smile
Coz there is no madrasa and head to the beach

Imagine living life in a place where you belong to
Imagine if you never left your birth place

Imagine the street with names
Imagine if the fathers spend more time with their sons

Imagine our flag flying high
Imagine going home late with out police harassing you

Imagine our elders going to the hospital with out worrying about language errors
Imagine peace and unity

Imagine love and care
Imagine a united nation

Imagine these youth in school uniforms
Imagine books and pens in their hands instead of guns and armors

Imagine big schools with beautiful gardens and play ground
Imagine signs across the road

Imagine flying from this to that city
Imagine driving down the high and stopping at robots

Imagine going to the neighbor just to hear a story (sheeko sheeko)
Imagine running to madrasa with a bottle of ink in your hand

Imagine big shops shopping malls, soccer teams, hospitals and university in your city
Imagine kids in line at school and singing the national anthem

Imagine unity in Somali
Imagine peace in the neighborhood

Imagine what we could have achieved in the past 20 years
Imagine if we were not refugees

Imagine if those lives were not lost
And imagine if the hungry Yemen Sea didn’t swallow our kids

Imagine if these enemies didn’t tear us apart
Imagine if we never knew tribalism

Imagine peace in Somalia
Imagine if these groups were the right leaders

Imagine if those graduated kids were a life
Imagine them saving lives and teaching at schools

Imagine living life in a peaceful Somalia
